Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
Having retired from the Bond role after filming You Only Live Twice in 1967, Connery made a comeback four years later, together with Goldfinger director, Guy Hamilton, and tailor, Anthony Sinclair.
After a sparse wardrobe in his previous Bond film, Connery received an extensive clothing collection for his final official 007 appearance.
Conduit Cut suits and Cocktail Cuff shirts continued to define Bond Style, but as the breadth of his wardrobe expanded, so did the width of lapels, depth of pocket flaps and blades of neckties.
After filming, Connery declared that "never again" would he play that role; but twelve years later he returned in the rogue Bond movie Never Say Never Again - a title inspired by his earlier statement.
For Sinclair, Diamonds Are Forever was an important swansong. Having been instrumental in defining Bond style throughout the 1960s, he demonstrated both an understanding of, and a willingness to adapt to, a contemporary audience.
